Dev Hynes Scores Short Film On NYC Ferguson Protests

Piano improvisation in Brooklyn.
A short 'ambient portrait' of New York City's Ferguson protest last week has just dropped online and it's got some moving piano accompaniment care of Blood Orange's Dev Hynes. The Aaron Stewart-Ahn directed film features footage of the city's streets, full of people holding placards and with their hands in the air — a gesture echoing the "Hands Up Don't Shoot" slogan used around the world to protest Michael Brown's death at the hands of Officer Darren Wilson and fact that a trial was never called.

Dev Hyne's piano improvisation at the Brooklyn Academy of Music serves as a fitting soundtrack to the film. Watch the whole thing below. The piece is dedicated to Mike Brown, Eric Garner, Akai Gurley, Tamir Rice, Ramarley Graham, Oscar Grant, Kimani Gray, and Trayvon Martin.
