Exclusive: Kate Sylvester 'Two Friends' Winter '14

Beatniks and blues.

Kate Sylvester has a thing for vintage-referencing, body-hugging elegance. Her last collection was inspired by the life of Marilyn Monroe and now, her Winter '14 collection called 'Two Friends', is all about the beatniks. No, not the acclaimed poets like Kerouac and Ginsberg — their ladies. The often ignored chicks that helped kept bohemian lifestyles allowed at the most conservative of times. Debuting alongside the launch of a new book, Smoke & Mirrors, by New Zealand friends Karen Inderbitzen-Waller and Delphine Avril Palnqueel, the Auckland Britomart store was transfromed into a speakeasy for the night. With models getting down to Sal Valetine and the Baby Shakes, the night was more of a massive party than a fashion show.
