Prada's FW17 Show Was One Big Feminist Shaka

Hang loose.

Coolest chick Miuccia Prada combined the political and the plush for Prada's Fall 2017 collection. Miuccia reframed the ~tools of seduction~ in an everyday setting — feathers and embroidery appeared on cozy sweaters and pencil skirts — creating an intelligent and multifaceted representation of female sexuality. And, like any good feminist manifesto, the whole thing was finished with some ornate shell necklaces. Shakas bro!

The space was complete with small bedroom installations that took slouchy designs to an intimate, domestic place. Backstage, Miuccia spoke on the way desire plays out in fashion: "The weapons of seduction are always the same. Feathers. Lingerie. When you are an educated feminist, sometimes you reject this, but it is true that these have stayed the same for many, many years. How is it that desire is necessarily linked to these things? Does this mean that seduction is something deeply human, or that it is a social structure? This is a serious question." Either way, she's breaking down traditional ideas of feminine seduction one misshapen crochet bikini at a time.
