Spike Lee Leads Gun Violence Protest Instead Of Throwing A 'Chi-Raq' After Party

Did the right thing.
Spike Lee premiered his new feature Chi-Raq in Manhattan last night, just hours after Chicago's police superintendent was fired as a result of the heartbreaking shooting of a black teenager named Laquan McDonald.
Instead of throwing an after party, Spike Lee marched the premier's attendees down broadway and to Times Square in a gun violence protest. Reinforcing the film's message about the unfathomable destruction caused by guns and racial discrimination.
The film is an slight adaptation of the ancient Greek drama Lysistrata. A group of women in Chicago come up with the brilliant idea of withholding sexy times until the men put down their weapons. If only it were that simple.
